Started in 2014 by husband and wife team Pepe and Maria, Cuero & Mør make quality leather goods. They’re known for their quality craftsmanship of beautiful, timeless, functional pieces... And they got their very first start selling in a booth at Unique Markets!

When did you first sell with us?
Our first Unique Markets was in December 2014, right after launching our first collection. We actually sold out of bags in the first day, so we went home and made more all through the night. The market gave us the opportunity to show what we were doing to the world, we haven’t looked back since.

Where do you find inspiration?
Cuero & Mør’s products are designed to be in harmony with the everyday lives of the women we design for; those women are our inspiration.

Why did you start your company?
At the beginning of 2014 my wallet broke and instead of buying a new one I decided to buy a calf hide and make my own. After making that wallet, we made a laptop case, and we got hooked. We loved the idea of being able to design a product and make it ourselves.

Describe your products and what makes them unique.
We have a minimal yet feminine style. What makes Cuero & Mør’s products special is their quality and functionality. After making the products by hand, we moved our production to Spain and work with the same workshop that produces for some LVMH group brands. They have the same attention to details we look for when designing a product.

What did you do before becoming an entrepreneur?
Pepe studied architecture and worked a few years in a Santa Monica architecture o ce, where he designed high end residential in the Malibu/Santa Monica/LA area. Maria nished Medical school in Spain before moving to
Los Angeles.

What’s been the most important thing you attribute to your success?
Having a clear vision of what we wanted to achieve, no matter how impossible it seemed and working really hard, no matter what.

Advice to someone starting a business?
Enjoy every step of it, you will have ups and downs but the freedom of working for yourself and being able to choose your own path is priceless.

What’s the hardest thing about being a business owner?
It’s important to follow your gut. Do your own thing and stick with it.

What other indie fashion and accessory brands do you like?
We really love Aydry & Co, they make the most wonderful candles and bath salts. We also love Amarilo Jewelry.
