Tailored Minimalism

The minimalist in you needs to know about Outlier  - an NYC-based apparel company started in 2008 by two fabric nerds who wanted to make the best cycling pants. Founders Tyler Clemens and Abe Burmeister have now expanded their line to shirts, coats, henleys, shoes, and accessories. Outlier's garments are created far better than those you'd normally encounter and, more importantly, their design philosophy states that the world doesn't need more design; it needs less. Its definitely a brand to look out for. Visit their online store here.

Well Curated: Hickoree's

Most of you have probably already visited the brilliantly curated online shop Hickoree's Hard Goods. I just wanted to take a minute to say how much of an amazing job they did with their web store as well as their recently opened brick and mortar store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The selection might seem random at first, but it's definitely a collection of all of the coolest American heritage-style things you could ever find on the internet ranging from vintage Levi's jeans to Silly Putty along with their own line of skinny ties called the Hill Side.

The best part about he website is that they have an entire MADE IN THE USA section with literally over a hundred locally made products. You know that's our thang!

Mark McNairy S/S 2013

One of my favorite menswear designers Mark McNairy (who also happens to be a big supporter of the Made-in-America movement) presented the 2013 Spring/Summer collection in his first ever appearance at this year's NYFW. McNairy continues to surprise us with an interesting mashup of off-the-wall prints and patterns combined with his signature preppy silhouettes. Dedicated fans will be happy to see the return of crazy camo, floral, and gigantic polka-dot prints.

Tough Cuffs

I always have difficulty finding jewelry for men. I wouldn't say that I'm a conservative dresser or anything, but I'm sure most men would agree that the majority of accessories for men are either extremely trashy looking, or simply feminine. If I were to put a criteria for a good bracelet/necklace/ring, I'd say the only things that matter is that its simple, good quality, and small. Simply put, the accessory should match a modern man's wardrobe. If my rant makes any sense then you'll be surprised to hear that I actually found something I like. Austin based designers Christine Fail of Fail Jewelry and Natalie Davis of Canoe teamed up for a collection simply named Fail+Canoe. I love how natural and rustic these bracelets look. They sure meet my criteria, what about yours?

Club Americana

ACL.png

I'm super excited for Michael Williams - the co-founder of Paul+Williams PR firm and a fellow blogger/pioneer of Made in America movement.

I've been following his blog (A Continuous Lean) for about a year now and I've always felt that he, just like all of us here at UNIQUE, is a very strong supporter of everything Made in America. It would be a shame NOT to feature him on our blog.

Anyway, Michael just collaborated on a capsule collection with Club Monaco featuring shirts, suits, and ties. The best part? Its all made right here in America! His appreciation for quality and knowledge of the classic Americana style is visible in this short film about the collection. Congrats Michael!
